Occupy Nashville EVICTION Notice.
« on: October 26, 2011, 11:24:00 pm »
#OccupyNashville has been given 24hrs to disband or be evicted by the Police (by 8PM tomorrow). Let the following people know that you support the occupation. We are the 99%!

Mayor of Nashville (Karl Dean) (615) 862-6000 mayor@nashville.gov
TN Govenor (Bill Haslam) 615-741-2001 bill.haslam@tn.gov
Chief of Police (Steve Anderson) 615-862-7301 chief@police.nashville.org
Director of Metro Council (John Cooper) 615-862-6780

Also, we need headcount AND numbers. Just because you are here does not mean you will be arrested. Peacefully comply, be mature..and aid where you can..but we need you on the Plaza as much as possible.

I know GA just ended a little bit ago, so maybe it hasn't been put up anywhere yet, but I'd like to get a copy of the press release that was read tonight. Please and thank you!

If I understood at the GA, we are expecting to receive a document this morning which sets out the terms of eviction or remaining at the plaza.  Have we received that?

Please respond maturely  to this.

IF NASHVILLE IS EVICTED FROM THE PLAZA:
Then realize that:
In a lot of ways this means of public assembly is viewed by some as problematic, irresponsible, and self righteous anyway, while just ignoring the obvious logistical and facility problems.  If you are disbanded from camping overnight on hard cold surfaces, instead have cell meetings in houses, cafes, and churches. Call mass GA meetings at the park and public spaces like the plaza VIA the internet, and keep the forums as a complete GA, blazing 24/7.  Camping solves no issue, it makes many. Public marches and rallies planned ahead get more attention, and more people involved. Just saying, why not be practical for winter, and show the city we work with and for them. Nashville is not New York. Work on Legislature, means to ends, and sleep in comfort! Look, I love you guys! But think about it...
Occupy the plaza, or occupy the whole city?.... We aren't new york, but in unity we can express in Nashville the ARM of that BANNER. be a spectacle, or an active hand?

I said IF, and am just proposing ideas that can save this and build it practically. Not being a naysayer. :)

Also, if you want some advice on occupying, check out http://www.ihop.org/
For over 10 YEARS there has been 24/7 occupation in hundreds of cities, why?
To cry out against injustice 24/7, and to take action against it 24/7. Sound familiar???
Never heard of it? That's cause it is peaceful, out of the news, and handled professionally, even though they too hold marches on dc. Use the experience of others.. there is a Nashville chapter, maybe ask some advice.
trying to help.. define yourself in your response. mild and thoughtful please. Education never hurt anyone.

I agree that responses can be effective and creative and are not limited to two options - go or stay.

I also believe the Occupy movements have already been successful on many levels.  The public discourse has totally changed and that's because of what has already been done.

Occupy is historically successful! Vital citizen-focused dialogues are now occurring around the world!!

But I also agree with Rob. Camping out does draw much-needed attention to the grievances of the 99%. Arrests just serve to further draw that attention. Yet, in the long run, what we do with that attention is ultimately more important.

While hearty, dedicated resistors camp, the rest of us can be turning our attention to possible solutions to the problem of big money in politics. If we can't camp, can we help by discussing all possible options to fix the problems?

at least open publicly funded poopers!

However, I think Nashville elected, who signed laws in direct violation of the Constitution, should be evicted.
