A Press Agent? There are people who are more than capable and experienced in press releases, pr and anything else the movement needs showing up daily what we need is organization and organizers Individuals who will work for the good of the WHOLE, Not leaders and founders. It is after all a PEOPLE POWERED MOVEMENT, Right? We don't need a press agent in the mix when we have no idea what resources we have in the form of people's experience who are looking for a way to contribute to the movement.  I say we get organized!

Where might members with press and media experience exchange ideas?

They said there's a media team meeting at the Peace and Justice Center Sunday at 6:30.  Can anyone tell me where that is?

Both of you -- I'd love to see you at the meeting on Sunday. It's at 6:30, at the Nashville Peace and Justice center. Right by Centennial Park, behind Bricktops.

3004A Poston Avenue
Nashville, TN 37203-1314

I'll be e-mailing everyone again tomorrow morning to remind them!

I'm posting this here cuz this seems to be where Media Team dialogue is at the moment (also PM'ing to Shire).

Sorry can't make it tonight. Had an outdoor face painting job yesterday and caught a nassssty cold  :(
But I've run a few site membership statistics that might be worth some thought from the Media and Outreach Teams:

      On occupynashville.org, as of 11:00 a.m. 10/23/11:
      • 489 members
      • 443 members have fewer than 5 posts
      • 440 have been members longer than a week
      Of those longer-term members:
      • 395 have fewer than 5 posts
      • 312 have zero posts
In my mind, this raises troubling questions:
      • Where are they?
      • Are they all on Facebook and/or Twitter?
      • If so, how can they be encouraged to participate in dialogues on occupynashville.org?
      • If not, how can they be encouraged back into the fold/activities/occupation/GA's?
      • Then, how can they be kept involved and active?

I hope Media and Outreach might address these issues.

A few of my thoughts: Polls? Brief reach-out email to members? Tech might also be included to make it easier for newcomers and returning members to understand/find topics/threads/discussions, actions/activities, etc. Maybe most viewed topics? Topics with most posts? Quick guide or Menu on where/how to find what types of posts/topics/threads? I dunno... I'm not a tech person. Just thoughts.

      Liz

PS: Unfortunately, I can only rarely participate in person in downtown Nashville. Too busy, not as physically abled as I'd wish, and gas costs too much to keep coming up from the Boro. I'm afraid most of my contributions would have to be Virtual. But Nashville is The Hub, and I'd like to offer what little help I can from here.

PPS: Looks like the Boro had its first GA Thursday (local press said about 50 people), so I'm gonna try to make their next one this Tuesday.

I still haven't found them. And I went to the meeting. It must be my dial up. Do we have a dial up system for dummies?
