Where can I find the press releases on this site?

Where can I find the press releases on this site?  Also, it's hard to tell who you people are that introduced yourselves at the media team meeting after the March on Saturday since no  one is using their real name.  Is Dorsey here?

Probably not.  At the GA Sat. I was told there had been 4 and they could be found on the site.  I've worked in advertising and marketing for 25 years and I need to read them to determine where best I might be able to help.

I think we need to talk to tech about setting up a press button on the home page that would lead to press releases and contact info...I am also going to suggest that we consider a relationship with a press agent....I know there are several that support the movement....although it may be that the press finds it more attractive to NOT have a press agent.

Dorsey is here, but I'm not sure if she posts much.

You may e-mail media@occupynashville.org with any questions! Also, I'm on the media team if you need help as well.

It seems the media team would do what a press agent would do.  Maybe this site isn't a good format for communicating with each other.  There doesn't seem to be much posted by the media team.  Or it's posted somewhere else on the site.  So far no one has been able to tell me where the press releases are posted.

thanks Shire.  I'll send an email

Thoughts for Press/Marketing:
Although "Branding" is usually "Corporate-Speak", I found a postive article in Time Mag that could be very helpful in keeping the Occupy movement alive and thriving well into the future.

I think we need to meet in order to assign roles as many things need to be addressed that are falling through the cracks. IE PRESS RELEASES, spoke with a woman from Tennessean who was almost begging for our press releases, where are they? How do they get sent out and by whom? I have heard that there have been 4-yet media outlets are saying they are not getting anything.  There was a wonderful information flyer written and printed..two big events happened right under our noses and the pretty flyers were still sitting on the table. GO FIGURE! Need people who will hold signs up at the plaza to call attention to the fact that WE are occupying, I could go on and on. So, if anyone on the media team thinks we could use an off site meeting I am usually at every GA and sometimes around in the late night and early morning hours. Talk and printing flyers that sit on tables  does not make a Movement. ACTION DOES. Ellie what do you think? Maybe if at this point you come up with a wonderful Idea you might want to be willing to follow it through or delegate to someone who will take the lead. IE if you get the flyers printed contact someone in Outreach who would be willing to make sure they get out into people's hands. As far as the Web Site......wish the web site could be used by media to up date what is going on with movement -it seems many people are unaware of changing events on the ground in NEW YORK and other Occupy hubs. Also, the occupiers who are doing the heavy lifting as I see it need our support if everyone who came to GA for a couple of hours could bring Food, Blankets or donate something it would be helpful. Better yet stay and get to know the people who are my real heros of the movement the occupiers. Thanks Dorsey

Dorsey, we're tentatively scheduling a meeting for Sunday at 6:30 at the peace & justice center to start streamlining the media team and getting our ducks in a row. you're right -- we've gotta start organizing this stuff and being efficient.

can you be there? I sent a massive media e-mail out to everyone's e-mail addresses I've been given so far to see who is still interested in being on the media team and receiving media e-mails. I don't remember if you responded yet, but I plan to send another e-mail out that has the meeting time in it.

I went to the url that was suggested. There was a short blurb...no press release and then troll plaza along with commentary that was discussion but not press release. Should I just write something and hope it gets out on the forum or should I just send it? I'd like to put something out about David Rovics playing on the Plaza Sunday.

There's press releases to get general publicity and there are press releases for specific events you want covered.  Why don't you post it before sending it out.

skrudrvr, the media team is working on getting organized to do just that. as of now, we've been doing press releases kind of fluidly, and apparently not many news outlets are getting them. this will change in the next week. We have a group meeting on Sunday to organize ourselves.

I'm going to try to make the Sunday meeting.  I think press releases may be where I can be of some help.  I've worked in advertising and marketing for 25 years.  It's been a while since I've written a press release but have done many.

Oh and the name's Mike, lol

Looking forward to a confirmation email on time and place Sunday. I'd like to make the meeting myself. Thanx!
