I believe that you are part of the problem. You have no idea who will show up tomorrow. I, for one, am not a college student or an old "hoppy." I also have no desire to use tomorrow's protest to get laid. I am an individual who works a full-time job who cannot make ends meet. I am currently looking for a second job so I can try and make my situation a little better. Tomorrow's protest is about making the government see that we people have a voice too. Will it make any impact? Tomorrow, probably not. But will it spawn and further a long-term movement here in Nashville? I hope so. I pray for it.
As for your political leanings, I am also a person who voted for both Bush and Obama. I don't lean for one party or another, as you obviously do. The political nature in the country has come to such a point that I vote for the person who I believe will do the best job of not digging us further into a hole. I voted for Bush simply because I had no faith in John Kerry. I voted for Obama because there was no way I was going to have Palin anywhere near the presidency. McCain could've been useful if he was the same candidate as 11 years ago, but he wasn't. I am tired of being presented with political choices who do not inspire me. Obama did for a little while. For a brief shining moment, I thought to myself that he could be different. I realize that was naive. No one politician can change anything. The people have to. That is why we're protesting. That is why we're occupying. Will it work? Maybe. Maybe not. Politicians and corporations like to ignore common people as long as they can. We've seen that time and time again. But we will not sit behind a computer and make potshots and sign up for forums with no other purpose than to belittle people. We will go out, we will march, we will say what we need to say. We aren't the 99%. We are people, plain and simple. Old, young, rich, poor, educated, uneducated, working, unemployed. We believe we can make a change. We believe in hope. And there is nothing more American than that. And that is what we believe in the most: America. We believe and we rally for her.
