And, Phillip, thanks to you as well for continuing to demonstrate remarkably well pretty much the veracity of every thing I say.  Your support is duly noted.

Occupy Nashville Chat / WomenOccupyNashville stream
« on: January 16, 2012, 03:18:54 pm »
Launching soon, another live stream channel in support of Occupy Nashville.  This one will be especially in support of women who are part of Occupy and I need some suggestions for material for an on-demand video library that can be accessed when the channel is not streaming live.  Anything that's about and in support of Occupy but especially as it's relative to women would be great.  Informational, entertaining, it's all good.  Can be something you're aware of online or could be something you create yourself.

Also looking for people who want to host a live show on the channel, on either an ongoing, occasional, or one-time basis.  Willing to provide air time and producer in studio for just about anybody who wants to present what may be of interest or support to women who Occupy.  Send any material you'd like to see on the channel or proposal for any show you would like to host to mahdeardixie@gmail.com  Let's give women who Occupy their own channel!

F'sure, I don't have the physical equipment for the usual pissin' contest, but I can agree with you that time online doesn't necessarily equal much mo' than, well, time on line.  My own days with tech go back to about 1977 or so when I supervised the QC line for a plant that made a Pong-like game here in Nashville.  By the time I had to figure out how to get around on a computer, it was one from Sears that ran DOS back in about 1984 in Chicago.  I'll add that raising a son (now 32) who shares some personality traits with Nick the computer guy on SNL and who now makes big bucks in Silicon Valley (San Jose) has given me an appreciation of the travails of techies.

Occupy Nashville Chat / Re: ON interview with woman beater

The show is over now, so I'm gonna presume to have permission from you, Spuff, to express my "personal judgement" of it and I'll be brief:  Sucked.  After a rather breathless hahaha reference about Gordon's kinda "crazy" life (yeah, we're all groovy people), the interview proceeded without ONE question regarding either beating women (repeatedly) or lying about military service.  I understand that Matt's a citizen journalist like me and a lot of others and doesn't necessarily know what he's doing all the time, but we can at least strive for standards of a sort, can we not?

As an aside, the suggestion that the info about Gordon only became known after the invite to be interviewed was issued is interesting too.  The first thing I did was Google to get information about him...why didn't the show do that?  Busy?  I dunno.  But the info was out there since the end of September, before ON began occupying the plaza, so I'm not sure the fact that the show didn't know about it can be attributed to anything other than they didn't look.  Jest sayn.

Must mention, too, that the taunt about "respecting the movement" is getting old in some quarters around here.  Reasonable adults can disagree and should be able to do so without their very loyalty to the movement being repeatedly questioned.

And, now that it's been established that my blog "falls under the same category" as Matt's show, does that mean I can expect you'll be adding a link to it under the "Media" tab?  You could do it when you add the link to the second stream...and now would be as good a time as any, since you're here and any of us who've ever had a web site up knows it's neither rocket science nor time consuming to do.  Thanks.

I assume "An Occupied Life" is part of ON, as it's one of only two links under the prominent "Media" tab on their .org site.  I'll admit to confusion as to why there's not also a link to the new addition to the ON stream channel there (http://www.livestream.com/occupynashville2012), but that doesn't necessarily take away from the credibility of this radio show as part of ON.  Does it?

I was told that this proposal was introduced for consensus in GA on Tuesday night, January 3rd, and that it was blocked and did not pass.  It's unclear to me if it was expected to be re-introduced with some wording changes or not.  Unfortunately, there are no minutes for GA meetings posted since December 20th, so information is sketchy.

General Discussion / Link to new ON live stream
« on: January 05, 2012, 10:05:57 am »
Why is there not a link to the new OccupyNashville2012 livestream channel on this site?  I would think there has been plenty of time by now to get that posted here.  The stream launched on January 1st and it's time to update the site, please, so people who come to this site know that Occupy Nashville has more than one stream.  http://www.livestream.com/occupynashville2012
